DILLABAUGH ASSUMES BUREAU HELM
The state Division of Weights and Measures has a new leader at the helm. As of June 26, 2006, District Supervisor John Dillabaugh has accepted the position of Acting Director.
John comes to this position with over seven years of field experience having started in Region II in March of 1999 and later serving in Regions VI and VII as field inspector and then as District Supervisor. Prior to 1999, John worked with Security at the state farm show complex and as a special investigator for the Penn National Race Track.
John brings a broad weights and measures experience to the Bureau office having completed the required NIST training modules along with a variety of other training opportunities over the past seven years.
While facing numerous challenges in fulfilling the Bureau’s role of maintaining equity in all commercial transactions, John has defined three areas that he plans to address immediately. (1) Communications. (2) Uniformity. (3) Training. It is immediately apparent how interrelated these three priorities are.
John has pledged to increase communications from his office to the state and local field staff as well as to all levels of industry. Uniformity is of course vital in establishing a level playing field for all business and all consumers. Training at all levels helps to bring these various entities together. For to many years we have had a variety of levels of enforcement across the state which clearly sends the wrong signal to the device industry as well as the packaging industry. Everyone operates under the same set of laws, regulations and handbooks therefore, variations in interpretations and application must be kept to a minimum.
John is looking forward to this challenge and the members of PAWM look forward to working with him. John can be reached at the Harrisburg office at 717-787-9089.
